1973 Families from a reformed background residing in theWhite RiverTownship expressed an interest in the establishment of a Presbyterian Church in Center Grove.
March, 1978 The Session of the First Presbyterian Church of Southport began to study growth patterns in White River Township.
March, 1980 The Presbytery of Whitewater Valley appointed a Task Force to make recommendations to them regarding establishment of a new church.
August, 1980 The Local Task Force on New Church Development for White River Township met with the Presbytery of White water to present for approval the Preliminary Mission Design, the description for an Organizing Pastor, and the Preliminary Five Year Budget Projection.
June, 1981 Dr. Quentin Small was selected and appointed as the Organizing Pastor by the Presbytery.
September 13, 1981 Our first public worship service and Sunday School was held at the Maple Grove Elementary School inWhite RiverTownship.
April 1, 1982 The congregation purchased 15 acres (2340 South State Road 135) for the church site. In August the office of the church was moved to the house on the church property.
September 12, 1982 The First Anniversary Celebration of the new congregation was held on the church site, culminating with a special offering for the land debt retirement.
September 14, 1983 The Presbytery of Whitewater Valley voted unanimously to charter the Center Grove Presbyterian Church on October 23, 1983.
April 14, 1985 Our first service was held in our new building. On September 15 we held a Service of Dedication.
1991 CGPC outgrew our facilities. A Christian Education wing was added and an extension to our Fellowship Hall.
1999 Our mortgage was paid. In July, Stephen Oglesbee became our second installed pastor. Our statement of purpose was established: “Strangers become Friends, Friends become Disciples and Disciples change the World.”
2000-2007 Added Staff positions to include: Children’s Ministry Director, Music Ministry Director, Youth Ministry Director and Lay Commissioned Pastor. We are amazed and excited about all that God has in the future of CGPC as we go into deeper waters with Him.
2011 Pastor Scott Fouts was installed as our new pastor. Michelle Lasley and Mark Landis we hired as full time Children’s Ministry and Music Ministry Directors.
